How to reformat hdd ps3 slim

External NTFS formatted HDD with MultiMan

  • Hello,

I just bought a Playstation 3 a few days ago, so I'm still brand new. After many hours of reading in, I dared to start and flashed the CFW Habib 3.70 incl. Cobra.
Together with Multiman, the whole thing works really, really well. I'm really excited about what you can do with it (especially the emulators are great!).

However, since I have an ancient FAT PS3, which only has a 60GB hard drive, it is obvious that I save my game backups on an external hard drive.
So I have now formatted a 2TB external hard drive with NTFS (because of ISOs over 4GB) and created the corresponding folder structure, which I also found on the internal hard drive. (GAMES, PS3ISO, PSXISO, ...) would like to use this together with Multiman - MM has such a menu entry with "Scan connected NTFS USB Drives" in the XMMB.

No matter what I do, my ISOs just don't show up under "Games".

In the "File Manager" view of MultiMan I was able to activate the hard disk with the help of the menu item "PFS Driver" and a USB.CFG. So I could at least display all files on the hard drive under / pvd_usb000. If I now click on an ISO, however, only:

    This action is not permitted.

    ISO TYPE: 32
    ISO PATH: [/pvd_usb000/PS2ISO/Pfad/zu/ISO.iso]
    ISO SEGS: 0

So is it somehow possible to use ISOs with external hard drives?
    Thanks for all the answers.

    best regards
    Redberry

    PS2 ... no, PS3 ISOs ... yes
the cobra CFW finds the NTFS disk normally by itself and shows you the ISOs in multiMAN

    I know that it's about ps3 ISOs

hm, unfortunately it doesn't do that for me. do I have to pay attention to anything?
(not too large partition, specific path, folder name, etc.)

I just had a PS3ISO folder during the test and the ISOs were in there.
Use the NTFS normally to test CobraODE and just rename the folder from PS3_GAMES to PS3ISO.

normally you just have to re-scan in multiMAN under games, then they will be displayed, that's how it is for me.
    Nothing extra installed either

  • Ahhhh, thanks for your answer. It works!
My mistake was that I made subfolders per game in the PS3ISO folder.

I'll test that more closely. But so far it looks good. Thanks!

    // edit:
That works with the ISOs perfectly!

However, I still have games in the old format (with "PS3_GAME" folder). Can you get it to run from the external HDD? Unfortunately this does not work in the "GAMES" folder.
I also wondered if you always have to install PKG files, or can you somehow 'mount' them without installing them?
And something else important: is it possible to access the external hard drive via FTP? (unfortunately dev_hdd1 is not the external hard drive)

    // edit2:
I've now experimented a number of times. Can it be that only PS3ISOs work with NTFS disks?

to do this, you have to switch to NTFS on the far left in multiMAN,
then go to the file manager,
then the NTFS disk with content should be displayed

  • my multiman thinks the nfts record is nice ... would be really nice if you say how to do it, please

  • Hello everyone, even if the topic is older, my problem has existed for ages ....
So it's a PS3 Fat, 80 GB with CFW Rogero (CEX).
My NTFS is recognized by Game Sonic Manager and I can play all isos, game loaders like Irisman etc and even the movie player recognizes my NTFS disk and shows me the isos (Movion or whatever it's called), only the only loader that can play my isos is and remains the "Game Sonic Manager" Multiman does not recognize the disk and looks dead when I go to install NTFS drivers and Webman seems to have the same problem that the hard disk is not recognized. The USB.cfg is on the external one and I have tried almost everything that puzzles me, however, is that Game Sonic Manager recognizes the disk without a problem, but Webman does not. Other loaders also mount the disk (you can edit the file manager) only the isos are not displayed or not loaded, but displayed. Does anyone know if there is now a fix for Webman? I have read. the new version should now have NTFS support, unfortunately nowhere is it like Thank you for your help

  • Hi,

I'll get in here because I have a little problem. I swapped my hard drive and installed a bigger one.
Backup imported again and actually everything was great, but ...

I have my NTFS disk with data and would like to copy it to the internal one. Disk is recognized in the file manager (but not via FTP ???) and I cannot copy any data.

It is canceled with the message "Process canceled by user ...." ...

    Thanks... ,

  • for NTFS I use IRISMan. he recognizes them.

on the PC I can clap the disk with USB 3.0 and no file size limit.

The PS3 can then copy in peace while I do whatever.

    Greeting ...

EDIT: So that it is not completely over the topic, of course I also tried MultiMan and PrepNTFS, and tried everything that is not available there.
even step by step with instructions on a second monitor. I didn't manage it. that was just too stupid for me, or maybe
am I too stupid ... I don't care! IRIS You can do it

  • Hi,

can you help me with the installation? I downloaded the full version from here http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=250,
but I don't see an ICON? I'm new, so don't hit right away ....

    greeting

  • this is a little embarrassing now

I can't get it out of my head, but now that I have a PS4, my PS3 is resting and I have put away all of the accessories.

if there is no one else who can help out, tomorrow I'll find everything together and connect a PS3.

but actually you can install PKG files directly via the XMB ...
