Environmental zones has existed in Germany for a number of years. They are supposed to have vehicles that are high Pollutant emissions keep away from city centers and thus counteract increasing noise and air pollution. Depending on the pollutant group, vehicles receive a green, yellow, red or none at all Environmental badge.

Environmental zones may only be entered if the vehicle has the required environmental badge disposes. However, the regulations for environmental zones have been in effect since Diesel scandal became more and more strict. There is now no longer any zone where the red environmental badge is welcome. Motorists just had to go to the environmental zones with the colored markings used, everything changed again. Where there used to be a distinction between red, yellow and green stickers, today only supposedly “clean” vehicles are allowed to drive in certain areas of the environmental zones.

  • Euro 3 with particle filter, Euro 4, Euro 5, Euro 6: Green Environmental badge
  • Euro 2 with particle filter, Euro 3: yellow environmental badge
  • Euro 1 with particle filter, Euro 2: Red Environmental badge
  • Euro 1: No Environmental badge
