HOW are the tunnel fees for the “Alpine Tunnels” paid?

There are two tunnel connections between France and Italy:

Mont Blanc tunnel

The tunnel with a Length of 11.6 km connects the valleys "Chamonix Tal" (France) and "Aosta Tal" (Italy). Driving in the tunnel is NOT permitted for trucks with Euro standards 0, 1, 2.


Frejus tunnel

The tunnel has one Length of 12.9 km and connects the cities of Modane (France) and Bardonecchia (Italy). Driving in the tunnel is NOT permitted for trucks with Euro norms 0, 1, 2.

Discounts:

Most important changes in 2019

On January 1, 2019, the toll rates in Germany were increased significantly. There are also some important changes to be considered for the calculation of tolls in Germany:

  • the specification of the weight class on the OBU is mandatory!
  • a flat-rate kilometer rate of 0.002 euro cents is charged for noise pollution
  • For trucks over 18 tonnes gross vehicle weight, a distinction is made between 3 axles and 4 or more axles -> The higher toll rates must be observed here! - see Tollcollect website: Toll Collect toll tariffs

Most important changes in 2019

Since January 1, 2019, truck tolls in Austria have been increased by 2.2%. Excluded are the Euro 6 vehicles, which continue to benefit from a bonus of 1.7%.

The order of the Maut Box and the payment of the toll charges are made with the help of the VIALTIS Multi Service Card. There are two payment options available to you for this:

Post-payment procedure: To do this, the Vialtis Multi Service card must be linked to the OBU.

Truck toll in the UK

Truck toll in Slovakia


Toll obligation: for all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight over 3.5 tons

HOW are truck tolls recorded and paid in Slovakia?

  • through an OBU that must be attached to the vehicle's windshield
  • The truck toll can be paid very conveniently with the VIALTIS Multi Service toll card.

Please note that when using the Toll device a deposit of 50, - € is collected by the Slovak toll operator Skytoll. You can pay this amount either when you pick it up at a point of sale or after a successful online order.

The tolls in Switzerland can be sent to designated toll booths (Terminals) to be paid at the border.

HOW is the truck toll recorded and paid in Denmark?

You can use the VIALTIS Multi Service Card to pay for the Eurovignette on the official portal www.eurovignettes.eu.

The Great Belt Bridge is an 18 km long bridge over Storebælt and connects the eastern and western parts of Denmark. The bridge is open 24/7 all year round and will only be closed in exceptional circumstances.


The Øresund (or Øresund) bridge is an approximately 16 km long road that connects Sweden and Denmark.

HOW can the bridge fees be paid in Denmark?

The Svinesund Bridge is a bridge that crosses the Iddefjord near Svinesund and connects Sweden and Norway.


Øresund (or Øresund) bridge is an approximately 16 km long road that connects Sweden and Denmark.

Failure to pay the toll can result in a fine of NOK 16,000 (approx. € 1,620).


Truck toll in Hungary


Length of the motorway network: 6,513 km, route-dependent electronic toll

The amount of tolls in Hungary depends on the type of road used, the vehicle category (J2, J3, J4) and the environmental class.

The truck toll payment systems


TELEPASS SAT

The Telepass SAT enables the payment of truck tolls in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland (A4 section), Belgium (KCS system), Germany, Austria, Denmark (Öresund and Storebaelt bridges), Sweden (Öresund bridge) and Norway ( Svinesund connection for tolls and tunnels) with just one device. Thanks to GNSS technology, you can desired countries added or removed - and that without exchanging the devices.

If you travel frequently through the countries mentioned above, you will benefit from the maximum discounts offered by Vialtis.
In the future even more countries will be available on the Telepass SAT device. The aim is to promote interoperability in Europe and to create clarity in the confusing jungle of tolls.

The individual truck toll systems for Europe-wide use at a glance

TELEPASS EU

The Telepass EU toll box for trucks with a total weight of over 3.5 tons. The truck toll can be paid cashless in the following 7 countries: France | Italy | Spain | Portugal | Liefkenshoek | Tunnel Belgium, | Poland (A4 section) and Austria. A future-oriented alternative for Telepass EU would be the new Telepass SAT toll device.

VIACARD

With the VIACARD toll card, the toll can be used and paid for with all vehicles (including cars) in Italy (with a few exceptions in Sicily). VIALTIS offers the option of registering with the FDE consortium in order to benefit from further discounts. The discounts (up to 13%) are paid annually and are calculated on the basis of all toll bills paid and the Euro class of the vehicle. The FDE consortium (association of several companies including Vialtis) is one of the third largest consortium in Italy that can guarantee particularly high bonus payments.

TOLLCOLLECT + TOLL2GO

In Germany, all vehicles with a gross weight of over 7.5 tonnes must pay Toll Collect. The kilometer-dependent toll costs are made up of the following factors:

Distance traveled + number of axles + euro emission class + weight class (This information has been mandatory since January 1, 2019) + a flat-rate kilometer rate of 0.002 euro cents for noise pollution.
Toll Collect has developed its technology in such a way that it can support other toll systems. The TOLL2GO toll service was implemented in cooperation with the Austrian toll operator ASFINAG. With TOLL2GO you can pay the truck toll with the same OBU from Toll Collect both in Germany (over 7.5 T) and in Austria (over 12 T).

VIALTIS will register for you in the Toll Collect system under “Payment method with payment guarantee” so that you do not have to pay your toll costs in advance. The installation of the OBU (if not already available) will then be carried out for you by a service partner approved by Toll Collect as soon as you have received confirmation of the vehicle registration by email.

GO-BOX

The Austrian toll operator ASFINAG offers its own OBU - called GO-BOX - for all vehicles with the maximum permissible total weight over 3.5 tons. The GO-BOX toll device can be used with both pre-pay and post-pay procedures.

VIATOLL (viaBOX)

The truck toll in Poland must be paid for all vehicles with a total weight of over 3.5 tons with an OBU called viaBOX. VIALTIS takes over the registration of your vehicles for you and helps you with all necessary administrative tasks related to the Polish toll.

SATELLIC - VIAPASS (KCS - OBU)

Since April 2016, the Belgian toll operator Satellic has been offering its own toll box (Kilometer Charging System - On Board Unit) for paying truck tolls. The toll costs depend on the weight and the emission class. Satellic requires a deposit of € 135 for the toll box, which is then paid back after the toll device is returned. At VIALTIS, the Satelic toll device is linked to the Vialtis toll card and thus registered with the vehicle registration number.

EUROVIGNETTE

The Eurovignette is a road usage fee. In principle, trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 12 tonnes or more must have the Eurovignette before using the motorways and toll roads in the Eurovignette area.
