Ivan Liška

“The real reward is on the stage” In November, Ivan Liška will be 65 years old. You can hardly see anything of it in him. However, you can tell from his sinewy tension that the long-time director of the Bavarian State Ballet, who is now giving up his management position and will head the Heinz Bosl Foundation in the future, was a dancer all his life. Even today he willingly step in when his ensemble needs him in the rehearsal room or on the big stage. You can only see a little melancholy about the imminent farewell.

Every art demands discipline ...

Your wife comes from the theater too. She was a ballerina, then a ballet master. Only a partner who knows the profession understands why theater is so dedicated. Why? When we were young and ignorant, we obtained knowledge from our elders. That's the way we do it. Personal delivery is important. We enjoyed it, we benefited from it. Why shouldn't we pass on our knowledge? We both have now. I don't know if our sons ever understood that. In any case, they grew up. And independently. If you decide to have a family, that's the hardest part in this job.

Because you always work in front of the audience when other people have long been thinking of the evening Mr. Liška, how great is the relaxation? Sadness when you look back on the last season you are in charge I have to admit that I will be attending everyone's performance of Bayew? always indulge in the national ballet. Sadness - none at all! It's like that. That's the reward. Sure, I get a lot of what's shown here and my salary danced. From that one buys was. On the contrary: it's even good to have bread and pay the rent. The real reward for the ensemble in its best condition is to pass it on stage. Then there will be almost 20 years of previous work here in Munich - see first. as deputy, then as director. Then not only did the junior dancer family probably have a company, but also the Heinz - more understanding, for the long Bosl Foundation with skin and hair. It made up your life - the agony, my family, too. I am under constant discipline, and finally want to pay attention to a healthy life with my wife. do what we've always postponed- Every art requires discipline. But ten. Priority was always given to the opposite - the ensemble. you can let yourself go. When is there a lot to look forward to? Look: I'm from Prague, my wife from Durban. These two poles are already an issue. We want to visit the Czech Republic, my old homeland, and South Africa, where we were often. But there is still so much that has not been visited. I've always wanted to go to India - especially to Kashmir. That was hardly possible because of the war there in recent years.

if you work with a choreographer, he has to be able to experience what's inside you. You have to work regularly with your body instrument, empower your body to do better. And you always have to exceed the standard if the choreographer demands it. These are the two incredibly attractive poles of my work. But you can always hear that dancers have pain in their feet and joints - and that they sometimes-

who have worn through different shoes - not just about happiness, but about working. also about fulfillment. I can be happy as a dancer that I do ballet Yes, yes. That is clear. Make this pain. But I'm not satisfied, every athlete knows - even a bike, if I know I'm not a good rider. But you have to be effective as a dancer and you can't carefully take over the tasks with your body that I want. Saying - and taking care of him. You have to be able to listen to tisfaction - that's the big secret. It works in life. also about being able to assess whether one is physically predestined at all. The nice thing is that we and she are tinctured for this job. I can't lose town you will. Many of myself say: It was me. I have endured these considerations for a long time. Younger people continue to accompany them, if they were mainly colleagues, perhaps physically at the Bosl Foundation continued with young talented ones, but their instrument broke too early. Now you have the nice case that you can pass a lot on, and a lot has happily rounded off for you. Can you even advise young people to strive for the profession of dancer? My sons never danced. But that was also because both parents were gone in the evening. The theater was not unconditional- ... but precisely the opposite is also important to her friend. When I find the meaning of today's young generation talents will work together. I have to say: When I start from when was it important for you to see the meaning and happiness in discovering the pedagogue in you, wanting to become a dancer - and have it yourself? if that's only possible for 15 years My father was a teacher. But I will be believing - then I don't really know that it is because of that. Done with the extraordinary. I will accept the tradition by not getting rich with it. Unless I have an older generation at the same time, I move into one of the world's best. Make a commitment to keep it going, but I'm getting rich inside. And give. I could also use my knowledge. I will be very focussed on other professions and leave it with me. xible because I know what discipline But is that the meaning of life? means. And I know about confidence. You have a lot of time in Munich, reliability and consideration. Almost all earlier ones are suitable for society - even as dancers, then as dancers not only absorbable, they are directors. When you look back like this: How warm are you with the city. and how open is she to Sounds good. the dance? But that is a problem in German society: parents want to enable their children in this country to have a job that offers them opportunities for advancement until they reach retirement age. But a lot has also changed. As a matter of fact. And yet one expected stability from a high school diploma, university studies and so on. That still works in parts. But are you really satisfied with a degree in business administration? Or maybe a tenth would be happier as an artist, as a dancer? And yet: it works

IN 18/2015

When I was a dancer for three seasons in the 70s, Munich looked more like the capital of an agricultural state to me. She was very self-conscious. The performances were well attended. But it wasn't a vibrant dance city. 20 or 25 years later that had changed a lot. I hope that I - and my team, together with the independent scene - played a part in making Munich a dance city now. The opera is just such a giant enterprise, which has always been well endowed, so that famous artists can perform here. That is also possible here in ballet - only that it is often

was not written so clearly on the big flag. The State Ballet is one of the most complex ensembles in Europe. The audience - compared to Berlin, Hamburg or Stuttgart - is my favorite. Why this? It's friendly-critical. It is not unfriendly or uncritical. It's not just critical. And it's not know-it-all. The people of Munich represent an educated audience. And I believe that by choosing the works and the choreographers I broadened their horizons and strengthened their understanding of dance.

that in the end we were more oriented towards their historical role models. Restoring a historical state often seems almost like a forensic-scientific adventure. Everyone who works in dance takes notes for the next performances. One day someone decided to make proper records from which each subsequent generation can read how the respective dance evening went. Marius Petipa created ballets in St. Petersburg, seven, eight, and nine of which are notated - milestones in classical dance. Some of them have been redesigned or reorganized. What interested us was always the question, how did it really go back then? Why did these pieces have such a charisma that they had such a strong impact up to 100 years later? If one can decipher the writings of that time, then suddenly the secret is obvious.

When you look back at your last season - a lot is rounded off, for example with the end of the Germany series. Do you still have some favorite projects and your second heartfelt farewell project? possible can? I am particularly pleased because there are two things at the same time: One that is not only for the young generation of my wishes. (laughs) All those who come after me, one goal that I have come up with are the boys. In the ballet festival wave I had in mind. che next year we will be performing an It's a dance theater piece for older dancers. Dater piece by Pina Bausch: “For the before, three different junior children from yesterday, today and tomorrow will perform. The "The Pasgen". We are doing the “senger” project. Trying to see if I can After Iggy Pop? Lich is the company that its director after the death of Pina Bausch Exakt. has lost to help whether her works You have to explain this briefly. are transferable. We want the value There just aren't that many older dancers in the piece, right? search. They already exist. You just hear something like that did when it did stop dancing. But choreographically - without Pina Bausch - they still love it, with bodies “happened with genius, right? memory ”to work. Young Bodies There were two dance pieces, “Le sacre have energy and enthusiasm - du printemps” and “Orfeo”, but they don't have much memory. But Wuppertal was given to Paris - it gives the movement a different commemoration. But a piece like this that is very important. That interests me - and I dance, but it also contains a lot of text, I hope the audience does too. as is the case with a large number of PinaBausch pieces, no one has dared to venture anywhere else. This is going to be a big attempt. The company is electrified.

What you have almost hidden, however, is that you will be dancing with the “Passenger” project yourself.

I am on stage almost every season. But not with the same level of efficiency. That means that your team will perform as it does the entire compassich with the Bausch colleagues. Once I even had to play Caraschen as an evil fairy in "Sleeping Beauty"? jump in bosses. In the newly designed area, a multitude of shopping opportunities with a wide range await travelers, including organic food and fresh baked goods, current book bestsellers, Italian hosiery and accessories. Afterwards, models, designers and bike fans will continue celebrating at the aftershow party from 9.30 p.m. at Ampere. Info: www.radlhauptstadt.de

On this day, Green City e.V., together with other organizations, citizens and artists, will transform parking spaces all over Munich into PARKs between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Visitors encounter individually and artistically designed oases that invite you to join in or relax. We are happy because we can research again! The Sunday shore excursion and ride-sharing organization Glockenbach (called SLuMfOGG for short in insider circles) is a completely loose group of gastronomic Oberland researchers, made up of hard-working gastronomy workers, tough carnivores, eloquent cheese teachers, Augustinian loners, but profound mushrooms There are also ambitious backyard barbecues, simmering full and half lawyers, busy herb gardeners, passionate boules players, wine-savvy pizza bakers and bavariophile French chefs who, depending on their taste, sleepiness and opportunity, come together in various combinations in order to pursue the above-mentioned, not really deprived research activity. respectively to drive.

Culinary research in the Bachzeilendorf In a small group, an exploration tour of the same kind takes us to the “Landgasthof Lacherdinger” on one of the last scorching summer days. In the well-frequented but quiet garden there is something to quench your thirst: an ice-cold shandy (3.10), a gracious non-alcoholic wheat beer (3.30) for the Sunday start, a large water (2.10) instead of senseless calories and for the fourth in the research group a secular, well-cooled Augustiner Hell (3,10). The tastefully renovated inn is in the middle of Ascholding, a "Bachzeilendorf" in the Tölzer Land with the merrily babbling Mooshamer Weiherbach and a listed town center with really beautiful, old farmhouses. The “Lacherdinger” on the roast is also approaching and bears his name perfectly: Landlord and chef Robert Riedl is right: the property bought two slices of good Wammerl with ten years ago and a crisp crust, very good sauce and orderly construction if it has been doing dumplings together since then, the co-researcher is a bit too mixed up with his family, including the guest room, but that is a matter of interpretation. The Wiener Schnitlich beat faster. We bezel eaters are asked if they want semolina dumpling soup because they want “ketchup” with (3.50), French fish for their schnitzel. Why - soup (6.90), roast crust, there is no cranberry (10.50), Viennese schnitzel? Yes, but the guests from the calf (16.-), the rib-eye-cravings almost always KetSteak (19.80) medium rare chup. Schnitzel and small, well-employed parsley potatoes are served by the house in pleasant dirndls from the Ösi-Land connoisseur and are never classified as perfect, more ... about secular drinks ... the order is placed, we almost don't go. The long-term friends of our small, fresh hunter's spaetzle, bear the hard work of our research work (massive, divinely scented of porcini mushrooms, the action of the cream of the sun and obnoxiously obtrusive sauce and the three juicy slices of roast meat) without complaint and unanimously determine from the club inevitably remind you of grandmas that you can eat it quite well in the country - a festive roast that can hardly be topped.
