Patch 4.15 comes with a new PvP content called "Steel Wings", in which two alliances fight epic battles in a huge arena. Bards are also given a command with which they can compose on their own. Everything about these innovations and more is, as always, in the patch details!

Required licenses

Some contents of Patch 4.15 require the “FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood” expansion and the corresponding license. The contents of this are shown in detail below. To obtain a license, either the “FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood” expansion package or the “FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE” package must be purchased and the registration (Windows / Mac) or promotion code (PlayStation®4) registered.

A license for "FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn" is required.
A license for "FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward" is required.
A license for "FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood" is required.

A new PvP content called "Steel Wings", in which two alliances fight epic battles in a huge arena, has been implemented.

Steel Wings is large-scale PvP content where up to 48 players battle each other in two teams, the Hawk and the Raven. Each team consists of six light squads of 4 players.

Patch 4.15 includes arena battles in "Astragalos", in which the core of the opposing team must be destroyed. Goblin war machines are used, which can wreak havoc.

After successfully registering for Astragalos, players are automatically assigned to the team of hawks or ravens and can jump into the action 90 seconds after entering the arena from the starting point.

※ Only players on your team can be reached by saying, shouting and shouting.

Re-entry

If a player is knocked down by an opponent in a steel swing battle, he can intervene again in the game after a short waiting time from the starting point. As long as players are at their starting point, they are invulnerable.

Mounts

In Steelwing Battles, players can use any of their mounts. If a player is hit while riding, however, he suffers the status "Lame".
※ Flying and riding in tandem is not possible.

With return it is possible to return to the starting point at any time. There is no reactivation time for the command. However, the spell is canceled if a player is hit while it is being executed.

Punishment for abandoning the game

With steel wings, all players who drop out of an ongoing battle are given a penalty. This rule does not apply to players who have joined a game in progress or who have been excluded. The penalty consists of a 30-minute registration ban for PvP content in the content search. Players who are inactive for more than two minutes automatically leave the game.

"Victory Conditions"

The team that first destroys the opposing core wins. If both cores are intact at the end of the game, the winner is determined based on the number of intact towers, the remaining tower LP and the remaining core LP (in this order).
※ If both teams are tied in all of these categories, the game will end in a draw.

Cores

Each team has a core that is placed at the starting point. The aim is to destroy the enemy core. The core is protected by a Magitek force field. As long as this is active, the core cannot be damaged. To deactivate the force field, all enemy towers must be destroyed. This is the first objective of every battle.

Towers

Each team has two towers that create a protective Magitek force field around the core. The towers themselves are also surrounded by a force field that reduces damage to members of the associated team and constantly heals HP. So towers are a good retreat point when the enemy starts a heavy offensive.

- Display of the HP of cores and towers

The HP of towers and cores are displayed with a special graphic. Since the core can only be damaged when the towers are switched off, only the towers' HP appear initially. The core's HP will not appear until it is vulnerable.

Three powerful war machines can be used in combat. Earthseim energy (EE) is required to drive war machines. Each group can accumulate up to 100 units of earthseed by collecting canisters on the battlefield or by defeating opposing players and puppets.

- Restrictions on machine use

Each group can only ever use one war machine, regardless of type. The suppressor is limited to two copies per team at a time. Each team also has two Brutalus available in a battle. They are unlocked each time a tower is lost.

※ Chasers and suppressors can be deployed at any time if there is enough soil.

- Resource management

When a player mounts a war machine, the war machine's LP appears instead of his LP. The HP of a war machine cannot be healed and does not regenerate itself. Machine commands consume energy points (EP). EP does not regenerate on its own either, but it can be restored by refueling. Earthseim is used from the supply of your own group.

Puppets

Marionettes work fully automatically. Your goal is to destroy the enemy towers and core. Puppets are produced from the kernels. As soon as a puppet appears on the playing field, it moves along a set route. If it encounters an enemy puppet en route, it will attack. If a puppet reaches one of the enemy towers or the core, it will blow itself up to cause great damage. Players are generally not attacked by puppets.

Groups can win up to 10 units of Earth Seed by destroying puppets. The percentage is calculated based on the damage caused when the puppet was destroyed. Damage caused by other puppets is not counted.

Generators

There is a generator in the middle of the battlefield. The generator can be brought under the control of your own team through interaction (if it was previously under the control of the opposing team, it must first be neutralized). When a team controls the generator, their earthseed supplies are constantly replenished.

motivation

If a player defeats an opposing player, his group receives the status "Motivation". This status can be stacked up to ten times. It increases the damage done and the effects of healing magic while reducing the damage taken. If a team member is unable to fight, half of the stacked motivation goes to the opposing group that defeated it.

"Remuneration"

Depending on the outcome of the fight, routine, PvP routine and wolf tokens as well as Allagan stones are awarded as remuneration at the end of the fight.
※ Players with a level below 50 do not receive Allagan stones.

During battles in Astragalos some options under "Key assignment" → "Aiming" are not available or work differently.
