Elidel medication what treats it

Elidel 10 mg / g cream dosage

Children (between 2 and 11 years), adolescents (between 12 and 17 years) and adults apply the cream thinly to the affected areas (and only there) twice a day and then rub it in gently and completely. The affected areas of the skin are treated until they have completely healed. Then there should be a break in treatment.

You can apply the cream to all areas of the skin, with the exception of the mucous membranes, including the head, face, neck, as well as in folds of the skin and in the areas between the fingers and between the toes.

Elidel can be used for the short-term treatment of neurodermatitis (so-called atopic eczema). Long-term treatment at intervals is also possible to prevent acute flare-ups.

Treatment with Elidel should be started as soon as the first signs and symptoms of atopic eczema appear.

Treatment time with Elidel should be as short as possible during a disease flare-up.

The treatment should only be carried out twice, for a short time and not continuously. According to studies, a second application of 12 months is possible. Use should be stopped as soon as the signs and symptoms have subsided.

If there is no improvement after six weeks or if the symptoms recur, the cream should no longer be used. In addition, a doctor should review the diagnosis and consider other therapy options.

Special instructions:

Treatment should be started by a doctor who has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of atopic eczema (neurodermatitis).

Do not apply the cream under airtight dressings (so-called occlusive dressings). There are currently no studies on this form of application.

In the case of severely inflamed and / or damaged skin, the concentrations of active substances that pass into the body can be higher.

Moisturizing care products can be used immediately after using Elidel.
